50 Hertz operates the electricity highways which serve to transport electrical energy over long distances with minimal power losses. With the energy transition, the system of energy supply has changed fundamentally. Increasingly, renewable energies are fed directly or via the distribution networks into our grid and transported via our lines. Renewable energies already account for 60 percent of electricity consumption in the 50-Hertz grid region.

A team of energy traders within 50 Hertz ensures that there are always enough energy supplies in the Network. In a team of data scientists, front- and backend developpers, a product owner, and me as the UX specialist, we developped a prove of concept (POC) of an AI-based energy trading widget to support the traders in their daily work.
